Art Deco illustration for New Years Eve

My last post of the year and what a year! Normally I would describe a piece of attributed art with an interesting history of iconography, or a serious exhibition. But for this one off post I will just use this gorgeous Art Deco illustration of β€˜The New Years Eve Ball.

Art Deco, New Years Eve, Flappers, digital illustration
New Years Eve Ball, Anonymous digital illustration, 17cm x 14 cm

The delightful little illustration reminds us what partying might have been like in the nostalgic Art Deco years a hundred years ago but also gives us hope for the future.

Robert Burns poetic words from 1788

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
