Venice today

Hi all. It is very sad seeing Venice today after the disaster last night. While the City was on alert due to high tides the severity of the storm and tides took everyone by surprise. The magnitude of the tide had not been anticipated until it actually occurred so preparation was minimal.

The damage this morning was there for all to see, with most businesses and churches underwater and closed. There are more high tides forecast this week and looking around it felt like being in a city on its knees.

Let us hope that Venice can recover as quickly as possible and that the world wakes up to what is happening soon.
