Well after years of research and the stress of getting it over the line, my book was finally published on 15th April. Rather than finding new words I will just reproduce the jacket notes.

A parish church is often the largest and most significant building in a rural British village. St Andrew’s at Trent is no exception with its soaring spire rising high above the wooded surroundings. Its Gothic medieval construction from the thirteenth century reflects the confidence and wealth of that period. However a church is more than its stone frame. Its whole fabric reflects the history of its community both as a centre of Christian worship, and as a collection of commemorative fabric and furnishings. St Andrew’s contains both of these in abundance.

This book describes the architecture and the furnishings in detail making no assumptions of the prior understanding of the reader, describing not only the art but how it reflects the community and the history of the Church in England. A church is not only a commemoration in stone, glass, metal and wood but of the people who have patronised the building. There have been many munificent lords and rectors through the history of Trent and this book throws new light on some of these important patrons.

The book is available from Halsgrove Publishing and retails at £19.99. My plan is to take it on the road in the next few months giving some illustrated talks.
As it is my first book it is dedicated to my first granddaughter Elizabeth Jelena.
